quinceanera's

Quinceanera’s that didn’t go well… As with most large-scale celebrations, quinceanera planning takes a great deal of time and effort. Sometimes months of hard work will go into making every detail of a young girl’s 15th birthday day a fairy-tale. Unfortunately, as luck would have it, even the most perfectly planned out events can sometimes go awry. Below are examples of five quinceaneras that weren’t magical at all. In fact, if the next quinceanera you host or attend turns out better than these, consider it a win.

Dancing’s Not a Crime

The best part of most celebrations occurs on the dancefloor. Starting with the Father-Daughter dance and moving into choreographed routines with the Court, dancing is essential. However, for one young lady hours of rehearsals still ended in disaster. Vanessa decided to include a chair lift in the big routine with her Court. It ended with the Chambelanes hoisting her proudly in the air . . . Then just as quickly getting off balance and dropping her onto the floor from about eight feet high. As if that weren’t embarrassing enough, Vanessa sprained her wrist from the fall and was in tears. We suggest keeping two feet on the floor during all dances, just to be safe.

Family Fail

Bringing both sides of the family together sounds great in theory, but doesn’t always work out. Cynthia was touring one of the Glendale halls trying to choose the perfect spot for her Quinceanera when the trouble started brewing. Her aunt on her father’s side and her mother had heated words during the tour. Things calmed down and seemed fine by the time the big day approached. However, after a few too many cocktails the family feud began again on the dance floor. It turned into a full brawl with both families ending up in handcuffs when local police arrived. It doesn’t get much worse than that.

Bad Blood

Young Taylor from the Los Angeles area was looking forward to the father-daughter dance for months. She looked beautiful in her pale yellow dress with flawless hair and makeup to boot. When the dance began, Taylor became emotional and her nose started bleeding. It was so bad the blood got all over her dress and hands. Her aunts eventually shoved tampons in her nose to stop the endless bleeding. That’s definitely not the vision she had in mind for her birthday celebration.

When it Rains it Pours

Some Glendale halls for quinceaneras have outdoor areas to host the party. This may seem like a brilliant idea with our gorgeous California weather, sunshine and cool breezes. Yet, for Ally, a random thunderstorm hit during the middle of her party in June. The rain was mild at first, but then torrential downpour occurred. The white tents collapsed, the area flooded and the entire party was soaked. Overall, the quinceanera, the cake, and everything was ruined.

Broken Hearted Birthday Girl

Some 15-year old girls know what it’s like to fall in love and have a boyfriend. For many, it’s the first time in their young lives to experience the ups and downs of a relationship. And for Sonia, she fell head over heels in love with Raul when they were only 13. Unfortunately, after the perfectly executed church ceremony and the flawless first half of the party, things took a turn. Sonia couldn’t find her boyfriend anywhere and eventually caught him outside making out with her best friend. Being cheated on is the worst. But being cheated on during your quinceanera by your boyfriend and best friend is the ultimate betrayal. Needless to say, the lyrics to the oldie, “It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to,” turned into the theme of the night.

Thankfully, most quinceaneras go off without a hitch. So, there’s no need to fear the above scenarios occurring, especially when taking precaution. If you have any questions or would like to tour MGM Banquet Hall, reach out to us today.
